44th Charlie Company Reunion

In 1969, my brother Stan patrolled the rice paddies and jungles of Vietnam with a very close-knit group of men– his squad. This squad was part of the 199th LIB, Charlie Co 2/3.

It has been forty-four years since this picture was taken. Forty-four years since my brother, and Private Benny Jackson lost their lives.

This past weekend Charlie Co. 2nd Battalion held their reunion in Kansas City, Kansas. It was a time of reconnection, reflection, and remembrance. A time for laughter, and at times, tears. Not all were tears of sorrow, but also of joy–joy to be with fellow soldiers who shared a past.

Although the faces are not those of teenagers anymore their memories and love for each other is stronger than ever.

I’ll post more pictures of the reunion later this week.
